Of course! Our instructors are certified by New Jersey at MVC, fingerprinted, background checked, and provided with 40 hours of in-car training. Our vehicles are equipped with dash cams and GPS trackers to ensure the safety of all of our students.
If you’re 16, legally you’re required to take 6 hours of lessons. If you’re 17 or older you’re not required to take any lessons. As far as how many hours it takes to be test ready, that is very subjective to each individual. On average, 6 to 10 hours will make you a safe driver who’s ready for the road test.
You’ll need ONE of the following primary documents
U.S.Passport
Original Birth Certificate with a raised seal
Non-Driver Id from NJ DMV
Glasses or contacts if worn
Of course, a permit is required as well.
Good luck!

No appointment is needed for this step, but it is recommended to come early in the morning to the DMV agencies. They open at 8 AM. As the day goes on if it does get backed up, they will send the student home to return another day.
Please text us an email address with the Students’ legal name and we will be happy to forward it over to you.
Unfortunately, you need to wait until you complete the six hours of training with the driving school.
Curfew is from 11 PM until 5 AM, the student must drive with somebody who is 21 or older and has had a New Jersey license for 3 or more years. Only one other passenger is allowed in the car unless there’s a parent with the student as the supervising guardian and in that case, one can have as many passengers as they would like. Red decal stickers are also required for the vehicle license plates. A student that is 21 will not need the red decal stickers. No cell phones are allowed and seatbelts are required for all ages. The Same restrictions will apply for those that have the probationary license which is the first year license, except for a 21-year-old where only the rules of seatbelt and no cell phones will apply.
What are the advantages of going to a driving school for a road test? Aside from the fact that Skillful driving has a great reputation at all of the Road test locations for bringing well-prepared students, a specific car is also required for a road test which we will be able to provide for you with all of the requirements. A road test service also provides the convenience of door-to-door service and transportation to road test locations that can be 30 or more minutes away, saving parents time away from their other responsibilities.
Please note that once you pass your test, you’ll need to make arrangements to get to the MVC for the paperwork to get the actual license to drive. This portion is not included in the road test service.
You can upgrade from the DMV website www.njmvc.gov – option called “upgrade probationary”.
The written test of the permit is good for two years and the road test is good for one year but please keep in mind that until you switch it over it is considered the status of a permit and your probationary year will not start until you switch it over as well as you will still have restrictions of a permit and cannot drive on your own.
For lessons, we require a minimum of 2 business days’ notice for cancellations. For road tests, we require a minimum of 1 week’s notice for cancellations. Failure to cancel within the specified timeframes will result in a full charge.
